
Mr Long Nguyen
Bassoon Teacher
Born in Vietnam, Long Nguyen started studying Bassoon at the age of 10 at the Hanoi Conservatorium of Music. While in Vietnam, Long has played principal with the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and participated in The Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra in 2007.
In 2008, Long commenced tertiary studies with John Cran at the Australian International Conservatorium of Music under a full scholarship. In 2009, he was offered a full scholarship to pursue undergraduate studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Long has finished his Master of Music Studies (performance) under full scholarship in 2014. During that time, Long had played with the Sydney Youth Orchestra and was also a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Sinfonia. In 2010, Long toured Germany and the USA with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chamber and Symphony Orchestra.
In Sydney, Long has performed with most professional orchestras such as Sydney Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and in chamber music with The Australia Ensemble. In addition, Long has recently participated in a prestigious Pacific Music Festival in Japan.
Long has been teaching Saxophone, Clarinet and Bassoon at schools such as St.Aloysius, Shore, Moriah and St. Ignatius.
