Mr Sam Huang

Piano Teacher

Sam was born in Taiwan and moved to Auckland, New Zealand in 1998. Since then, he started learning piano and showed a strong musical talent within his field. He has been invited to perform regularly in the music and arts societies within NZ and received numerous piano prizes during his high school period. He has also performed in Auckland Townhall and Manukau Event Centre with NZ school orchestra as a featured pianist. From 2006-2010, Sam attended the Music School from University of Auckland where he studied with some of the best piano pedagogues within NZ. There, he completed his Bachelor of music with Honours and was awarded with Margaret Doome Scholarships. In 2012, he finished Masters of Music with first class honour where he achieved the highest division band in his year and was supported by Anne Bellam Scholarship for two consecutive years.

During his university time in NZ, Sam is also committed in piano teaching. Besides having very positive results from students sitting piano exams, he has also brought up a few talented young prodigies that appear in major junior’s piano festivals such as the NZ Young Chinese Piano Talent Concerts, which later all studied with Professors from University’s piano performance department.

At the end of 2012, Sam moved to Sydney for further studies at the Conservatorium of Music under the guidance of Dr Paul Rickard-Ford. Besides studying, he frequently gives concerts within SCM and performs regularly throughout New Zealand and Australia. He also teaches for the Conservatorium as an assistant teacher (Open Academy). Here, he acquired his second Masters degree for piano performance in 2014, with High Distinctions in all his public open recitals.
