
Mr Sebastian Mansell
Cello Teacher
Sebastian Mansell began studying the cello at the age of seven with Stephan Richter.
Since then, he has graduated from the Elder Conservatorium of Music with First Class Honours where he studied under Janis Laurs and Sharon Draper. He was principal cellist of the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and New Music Collective and was recipient of the Eugene Alderman Prize for cello and the prestigious EMR Travel Scholarship, the latter of which allowed him to take lessons and masterclasses in Germany and the UK with leading soloists and principal cellists of the London Symphony Orchestra and London Philharmonic.
A keen chamber musician, Sebastian is cellist with the Baudin Trio and has performed in the Elder Hall Lunch Hour Series, Recitals Australia Lunch Hour Series and at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, as well as having appeared in masterclasses with Orli Shaham, Kathryn Stott, Francesca Dego and Mahan Esfahani.
As soloist, he has performed concertos with both the Unley and Norwood Symphony Orchestras and has given recitals at Government House (Adelaide) at the invitation of His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC.
Sebastian is currently completing a Master of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of music.
