Ms Eva Li

Violin Teacher

Eva began learning violin at 5 years of age under Suzanne Borrett at the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music. There she was concertmaster of Central Coast Chamber Orchestra from 2014-2015, runner-up for the 2014 Central Coast Concerto Competition and recipient of scholarships from the Bouddi Arts Foundation and Pearl Beach Progress Association. As a soloist she has received masterclasses from renowned teachers such as Berent Korfker and Charmian Gadd.

She is currently at the Sydney Conservatorium under Associate Professor Alice Waten where she was awarded the Elise Hernan Scholarship. She is also a two-time recipient of the Henderson Travellers Scholarship, which allowed her to receive lessons from leading teachers and performers of Europe such as Professors Rainer Schmidt, Oliver Wille and William Coleman.

As a keen chamber musician, she is a current member of Ash Quartet under the tutelage of Julian Smiles. They has been invited to perform in the Verao Classical Festival in Lisbon, Portugal and compete in the semi-finals of the Queensland International Chamber Music Competition in July 2019. She has received chamber masterclasses from the top quartets right now such as Vladimir Balshin of Borodin Quartet, Leslie Tan of T’Ang Quartet and John Myerscough of Doric Quartet.

Eva frequently performs as a casual member of Coast Opera Australia and Symphony Central Coast and the annual Crossroads Chamber Music Festival founded by Charmian Gadd.

Eva plays on a 1890 Louis Collenot violin.
