Julian Monasterio was studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music University. Throughout this time, being an avid performer and teacher Julian has been exposed to some of the most prestigious music teachers and mentors in Australia and abroad. Whilst at the conservatorium, he has been under the tutorship of Prof. Alice Waton and A.Prof. Ole Bohn.
In 2014, Julian was selected to attend the eminent Meadowmount School of Music in the US for a period of 2 months of intensive lessons, he attended various music workshops, including numerous solo and quartet performance opportunities and master classes with the string faculty from Julliard and Curtis Institution of Music. During this tour, he studied under the tutelage of Sally Thomas and Gerardo Ribeiro who are among some of the most prolific teachers in the world. The insight and wealth of knowledge he received over the course of time was an invaluable experience.
Julian have had various solo opportunities and have played solo several times accompanied with the Trinity Grammar School at Angel place which is home to the ACO (Australian Chamber Orchestra. In addition, he was selected for Encore for my HSC performance and was on the honours list. Julian has also played with the Australian Youth Orchestra and Sydney Youth Orchestra which proceeds to be a profound experience.
Recently in 2018, Julian has received an offer of placement as a sectional violinist for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. As a performer and teacher, Julian’s musical profession has stemmed from a very diverse appreciation and passion for all genres of music. He has been playing the violin since 7 and every step of the way has been a exhilarating experience, studying not only with many different teachers but ultimately being in the presence of other musicians, performing in quartets, radio (2GB & 102.5 fine music), freelance performance as well as teaching.
Julian currently a residential violin teacher throughout various schools in Sydney.
