As a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, Ari Volovelsky has performed throughout Australia and the United States. He attended Newington College as a full music scholar, before completing his high school studies via Sydney Distance Education High School. Ari started playing cello at the age of 6 with Boris Suraev. Subsequently, he studied with Umberto Clerici, Michael Goldschlager and Julian Smiles. In 2016, Ari attended the Meadowmount School of Music in New York where he studied with Julia Lichten and participated in the masterclasses of Hans Jensen and Paul Katz. In 2017, he won multiple prizes in the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition. In 2018 he began his studies with the legendary Steven Doane and Rosemary Elliott at the Eastman School of Music in New York State, where he was a Howard Hanson scholar and served as principal cellist in the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra.
