Pre Rising Stars Training Program (PRSTP)

Guidelines

The Pre Rising Stars Training Program, proudly associated with Arco Music Academy, is intended to help prepare young students for successful entry into the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Open Academy Rising Stars Junior Program. Normally children aged 3 years old will be eligible to apply for the PRSTP, although older children up to the age of 6 may apply.

The Program requires a high level commitment from parents to support and help nurture their child by attending 3 lessons per week. The lessons should be evenly spaced throughout the week and the structure of each lesson will be total 60 mins (30 minutes lesson, 10 minutes break then 20 minutes lesson) with some flexibility possible to be determined by the student’s teacher. Parents are responsible for supervising their child during lesson breaks. Parents are also responsible for supervising their child’s home practice between lessons.

All piano students will follow the program devised by Dr Paul Rickard-Ford, Senior Lecturer in Piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music; Strings students will be devised by Mr Fox Chan.

Lessons will be organized as close as possible to school term dates with each term involving 10 weeks of lessons (making 30 lessons per term).

Depending on the number of applications received it may be necessary to assess applicants in a short live interview/audition. Entry to the program will be limited. All students accepted into the PRSTP will be reviewed at the end of each term and if the teacher feels that inadequate progress has been made then the student will not be offered a place in the next term.

Fees

PRSTP Hurstville Fee:

$100 per lesson. 30 lessons per term = $3000 per term.

Materials/Method Book/s = $95 per term.

Total Cost = $3095 per term.

PRSTP North Shore Fee:

$120 per lesson

Any missed lessons will not be made up or refunded. If a teacher misses a lesson the lesson will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

2019 Term Dates

Term 1 starting on 28th Jan

Term 2 starting on 29th April

Term 3 starting on 22nd July

Term 4 starting on 14th October

Application

Every new applicant must audition or have an interview. A non-refundable audition fee is payable with your application.

Full payment of $30 is required upon submission of the application form. Applicants must finalise payment within 48 hours after lodging this application.
